i recently installed win2k on a computer with 2 HDs. a 10GB one and a 120GB. i installed the 2k on the 10GB HD but the disk died so i installed it on the 120gb disk.
the problem now is that whenever the computer boots it wants me to choose between 2 windows 2k operating systems. is there a way to remove the other one? or just force it to boot from one instead of asking me each time

Edit the boot.ini. You can find the file either on the 10GB or 120GB drive on the win partition. The file is hidden so u should select "Show all files" from "Folder options" in order to see it. I'm guessing the file would look something like this in your case.

First backup your file and then delete the line in bold since that should be the first win 2k u installed (on the 10GB hdd). After that change the
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOW S line
with
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOW S.
That sets the new win you installed as the default one (thew one on which it will automatically boot).
If this doesn't work try just deleting the last line in the file and leave the rest of the file as it is. If that still doesn't work, send a reply here with the contents of your boot.ini

If your uncomfortable "editing" then this should make a nice alternative.
Control panel > System > startup and recovery > advanced
Select from the drop down list the operating sys to start (both will appear to be the same) then set the time to display O/S to "0". This will start the machine on the correct O/S and will not display the black "select" screen.
