2000 removal problem

hey,
I had windows 2000 pro preinstalled on my computer ... Recently I upgraded to xp pro, on the same partition as 2000. However, when the upgrade finished, it didn't completly overwrite 2000. So now I have 2000 and xp on the same c: drive. Is it possible to completely remove 2000, while keeping xp. Thanks a lot. ... btw, my files are all backed.

Consider doing a new install of XP instead of an upgrade..usually get much better results. (also, use NTFS file system instead of FAT32)

actually i had done a "new installation " , not 'upgrade' because i wanted the whole disk to be cleared and installed with xp... when i was asked to partition i hadn't because it said it would replace the 2000 files..

also , whats NTFS / FAT32 .... how do i choose that

thanks again

A new “fresh” install will normally involve formatting your entire hard drive (usually only one partition) which will in effect erase all data on that drive before the actual XP installation begins. NTFS and FAT32 are types of data/file storage formats. NTFS is a much more efficient file storage system. During the initial install/format process you should be prompted on which file format to use. Select NTFS.

If you still have WIN2000 files on your system after the XP install you did not format the entire hard drive. Maybe you mistakenly created a second partition on your Hard Drive for XP.
