W2K Active Directory Problem

Hi all,

We have 26 branch offices connected back to our HO via VPN. We have a single Windows 2000 Domain. One of the branch servers seems to have an Active Directory or DNS problem i.e. - When I open Active Directory Users and Computers I either get a "principle target name is incorrect" error or the server retrieves the AD from another server not itseld.

This is causing repl problems, permisson problems etc... I looked at the event logs and noticed that this server is always trying to replication to a server that no longer exists...I have manually created replication partners using AD Sites and Services with no avail. My latest problem is that the branch printer on occasion stops functioning until the server is restarted. I think I have ADS/DNS issues and my plan is to remove AD on this Domain Controller and add it back...what are your thoughts?

Bit of a pain, but you could demote then promote. Its worth a try and faster than messing for days and wasting time then reloading anyway...
