explorer.exe hangs when logging on.

I use win2000 and recently the explorer.exe hangs when logging on. The desktop never shows up, when I alt+ctrl+del and look at all the services they all are running in the background even explorer.exe. If I shutdown explorer.exe in the taskmangaer and take run "explorer.exe" the desktop shows up. So basicly after I logon to my account everything loads including explorer.exe it's just that it doesnt show my desktop, if I restart explorer.exe the desktop returns.

Anyone know what this can be? this is so strange

I got a similar problem in XP Home...are you by any chance using any Norton products, Nero or any other DVD burning software like DVDSanta?

I'm using Norton Antivirus 2004, and have SP4 and all lwindows updates. So it might be Norton Antivirus 2004? I'll try later and disable autorun or do I have to uninstall it?
