One big thing that could be the problem with old games, software and others is that they are been made for Dos or Windows 95,98 but that they can't be played or opened in Win NT.
Most of the time that stands in small letters in the column where the specs are.
Win. 2000 and Win.XP are working like NT and so programs that can't play on Win. NT can't play on Win. 2000 and Win. XP.
In Win. xp you can act Win. Xp like it is Win. 98. But that's something not allways work. In Win. 2000 I don't know if they got that. But try.
Click with right mouse on the .exe file from the programme and go to settings and compatibility. If it's right you can choose to let it pretend it is dos, Win95,98. If not. Your Windows is not compatible with that.
Win 32 error is one of the things that gives it when it's not compatible with Win. NT. So check the specs of the game.
Hope this helped and cleared a bit.
