Dial-up Server vs. Fax Machine :(
I have a small Windows 2000 Professional dial-up server that is on the same line as a commercial fax machine.
When the dial-up server was connected to the line, incoming faxes were not received, but the dial-up server worked fine. I dropped the number of rings on the fax machine down to 1 ring and now it receives faxes, but a computer cannot connect to the server.
The server logs verify that the modem has been picking up incoming calls that are unrelated with incoming dial-up requests.
The modem is a U.S. Robotics V.92 Voice modem and the fax machine is a Brother IntelliFAX 4100.
The fax machine is used for both incoming and outgoing faxes. The server is, of course, only used for incoming dial-up requests.
I am trying to figure out how to resolve this issue while maintaining the machines on the same line. Additional software or a different modem would be an acceptable solution as well, but lower down the line of getting everything to cooperate with the current equipment.
Advice is greatly appreciated.
