Lightbulb Mailbox Cost Analysis

Anyone have a formula for finding the cost per employee regarding the mailbox cost each user incurs when they join the firm or ask for a higher mailbox size allowance...

thanks

This is difficult to quantify on a good day. You will need quite a bit of specific information including but not limited to: Original cost of mail servers (hardware + software + installation divided by months of expected lifetime). Hardware monthly maintenance costs. Software licensing fees by month. Network personnel monthly charges. Current Hard drive capacity of all mail servers. Number of current mail users. If your mail system is administered in-house it will be easier than if you use contractors, as contracting firms may charge per mail user or mail file in addition to mail server.
Generally speaking, the larger the company the cheaper it is per mail user. Also Hard drive space is getting cheaper by the day, email usage is increasing, and email retention may be mandatory in your business due to legal requirements.
