We have a dedicated SUS server that this past weekend I had to update as well as update the updates that it delivers.
I first downloaded all the SUS Updater files, then I used Internet Explorer to select the Windows Update tool, scanned for updates, approved and installed the updates. After the last set of updates the server was rebooted and then I logged back into it and all was fine. All of this was logged in as administrator.
I then, logged into the server as myself, and I get the Server Configuration tool up and running congratulatiing me on successful installation and prompting me now to go on to configure the server!! Well, I don't select to do anything at this point, as this server is already up and running a configuration and for all purposes is doing it correctly and well. I simply click on the upper corner X and close the dialog and log off the server.
But it starts up with the same thing every time I log on other than as administrator. This is an active server in our network, and I am not going to allow it to do anything to alter it's function or configuration. So I am not going to run that configuration tool and jeopardize the server.
Does anyone know what is going on with this, and what the fix is ?
I have searched Microsoft's KnowledgeBase and I can't find anything even close to this..!!!!!
