Smile Little Help with Config. now

Now that I'm just starting out with W2000 I need help with a few things. I can't find out how or where to change the drive letters assigned to my CD-ROM and my CD-RW. By default they got different letters than I was use too
Another question; I'm using my Network card for my Cable Internet. After I did install of W2000 and 3 Service Paks I noticed a different name for my Ethernet Card in Device Manager. I have 2 Ethernet cards in PC but of course I only use the 1 that came with my Cable Hookup. Its an Asante Network Card that my Internet is hooked up too. I see in "Device Manager" that they are named (PNIC2 Based Fast Ethernet Adapter [ACPI])
and the other one is (Realtek RTL8139(A)-based PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter. The PNIC one says under the General tab in Properties "Location 2" the RealTec says Location 1 under its General tab. I don't know which Network Card is my asante LOL. In my systray there is an icon looks like a monitor with red X, it says Local Area Connection Network cable Unpluged. My Internet is working but I realy can't figure this out.
Hope I made it clear enough,,
Thank You~Paul

first of all, to change your drive letters, you can do this through disk management (right click on my computer and click manage), just right click on the drive and you can change it to whatever letter you want. using partition magic you could also do this. as for your nics...

go into the network properties and see which card has a red x. then go into the properties of that card and check off the box that says "show in tray icon". when you find this out, rename it them to internal - external for future referance. that just happens to be one of the more lame things about windows 2000 you picked out.

Thumbs up Thanks Test User!

Thank you for the help,,I kinda got the problem figured out with the NIC card. I took out the Ethernet card that I wasn't using. When I re-booted it was gone (Icon in systray). Its just a constant learning thing with Win2000 but I like the OS so much more than W98se!! I find W2000 so much more stable.
Again, Thanks Test User
