How can I rename WINNT to windows

I upgraded a windows nt box to XP Pro. How can i rename winnt to windows? I have software conflict that would only recongnize windows directory.

I'd imagen changing it's name would only cause more problems, on a system level. Prehaps it would be best to backup and perform a full format and re-install.

Also, you may be able to run older programs in Compatibility Mode.
Right-click the program icon on your desktop or the shortcut on the Start menu for the program you want to run, and then click Properties.
Click the Compatibility tab, and change the compatibility settings; you would need to do it for each of your older programs.
