Windows NT 4.0 Server

Just having a problem with installing NT 4.0 Server(got 4.5 upgrade to add later),

I have set the harddrive size for the install to 2000MB, boot from the disks, and all goes ok until it formats the drive to NTFS, and it goes very very slow, on the harddrive it gets far and then cuts out saying it cant format the drive because of a error on it, i have done a scandisk and it all checks out, the drive has no other files on it, they are real/legal copies of NT servers, so it not something stupid like a bad copy, any ideas?

System: AMD 2000+, 512MB Ram, 40GB Harddrive(2000mb in one part. for NT)
