Windows 2000 cannot delete file

I have downloaded a file but I am not able to delete it as I always get the message

"There has been a sharing violation. The source or destination file may be in use."

I have this file to my computer a week now.So I have restarted or shut down windows many times...

If I copy the file and paste it to another folder, the second copy of the file also cannot be deleted.Cannot rename it, cannot do anything to it.

The security permissions are the same with all the other files.

Do you have any idea what is happening?

Thank you.

You should do a virus scan with Symantec, link:

http://security.symantec.com

And if there is no virus, boot up into safe mode "F5" and then try to delete them.

start your pc in any bootable CD like winbart or winxp live cd then delete
because this file using in your memory and this is not possible to delete the memory file.

or

press ctr+alt+del then check file is access in run services if yes then select the file and end task then delete.
otherwise first thing is working 100%

Question Cannot delete File ?

I have this problem since I have installed W2K. It is
also impossible to rename a directory. It seems to be
a problem with the memory, because if you "End Process" of explorer.exe (even if the aplication cant be seen in the "Application" in the task-manger), you are able to delete or rename. -Seems that W2K is not 100% compatible to my computer.

Has anyone encountered the brdr.exe problem at shut down? My W2K PC won't shut down until I click 'end now' to the always-running brdr.exe program. I read somewhere it is from an adult chat site of some sort.

Does anyone know how to REMOVE BRDR.EXE?

Brdr.exe only stops responding when your computer has been overrun with malware...try this link http://wiki.castlecops.com/Malware_R...oring_Programs
