Adding Users in Active Directory

I am running a Windows 2003 server. When I try to add users to the active directory I get the following error.
Windows cannot create the object...
Unable to update the password. The value provided for the new password does not meet the length, complexity or history requirements of the domain.

But I haven't set up any requirements, I set up about 20 users before I got this message and now everytime I try to add another user I get the message. I was thinking about removing the AD and then set it back up but we run 99% of the time and I can't risk shutting the server down for a significant amount of time if there is another way to correct the issue. I have tried all combos of passwords, no passwords and passwords I have assigned to other users that work and I keep getting the same error.
Any Ideas!!!

I think this link will help you with password issue:
http://www.tacktech.com/display.cfm?ttid=354

but why you can't create an object in AD !!?? don't know, can you provide a screen shot of the error or error code in Event ID ?

Cheers

goto "Active Directory Users and Computers" right click on your top level domain container, select "properties" then select "group policies" select button EDIT “Default Domain Policy”.

Goto “Computer Configuration” the select “Windows Settings” > Security Policies> Password Policy now select and disable “Passwords must meet complexity requirements” I believe this should sort out your issue.

While this is on my windows 2000 server it should be the same for 2003, I did policies for 2003 not much had changed, only some key descriptions but use common sense and you should have no issues.

server 2008

I know this is off topic !

Hello i have a similar problem but it's in windows server 2008 datacenter edition (full install)

it i get this on the first start:
The user's password must be changed before loggin in on the first time.
[ok] [cancel]

then i press ok

i type new password and type it again in the confirm box.. then i press ok

and i get this:
Unable to update the password. The value for the new password does not meet the length, complexity, or history requirements of the demain.

I have tried many (like Really many) diffrent password and nothing helps.. i can not enter windows only logon screen so i cant install anything or go to registry etc. etc...

If you installed Server you had to create a password...correct. So password complexity in server is standard at boot up, then once you are in server you can change this in group policy.
