HELP!! i'm ready to throw this laptop!

I have a DEll latitude, it was give to me by a friend.. its seems as though its set up like a school computer, like has a "stand-alone log on" and a "network log on" however you can only access the stand alone and once you into windows, you can do ANYTHING because of the ADMIN settings... how can i BY pass this?? i want to format and put win XP on it, but it won't let me, i tried booting with a boot disk, but when i start up it says to "take out disk and press enter"!!!!!!

right now it has WIN 200 pro.

i don't know what to do!!! please help me.

when u say admin password do you mean a password set in the bios.....ie dose it ask for a password when it first starts up

yes it asks for a password before you get into any windows desktop.

Sounds like you will have to get into the bios settings before you can go any further......i Think it is the F2 key for that model if it will not let you in with out password...you have a bit of a problem.....i am off out for a little while.......will look in to see how u are getting on when i get back

hey red pill, i went to that site .. the image they show on that site, it NOTHING like the one i get..

windows is just set up, so that you can get into it, but you are limited on doing things, unless you have the ADMIN password, which i don't have...

so its not like computer is saying that is procected ba an authentication system.

so i can get into dos, but what i try to format c: it says i don't not have acess to do this..

can you help??

Easy way around is fire up machine and make a dos bootable floppy , then add fdisk and format to floppy disc, restart machine with floppy disc still in drive and will boot of floppy (if not set bios to boot from a ) then type in fdisk and select remove dos partion will clean whole drive rember when done will need to restart machine on floppy and run fdisk again but this time put partion back: cool:
