windows 2003 server network with 6 xp computers on it, HELP please

Hi,
We are moving over from unix to windows, and I am very frustrated in setting up a windows 2003 server.

What I would like todo is the following:

Setup a windows 2003 server so I can have 6 xp computers be able to logon to the windows 2003 server. I would like to keep a home directory as well as some shared directories for the users. I would like to keep the usernames/passwords on the windows 2003 server..

I have tried setting up the 2003 server with DC active directory and dns server to acomplish the above, but I just dont understand what I have todo. Ive read many books, but it seems the scope of them goes way beyond a small 6-10 computer network. Could some one assist me or help me out with the setup of steps to allow the above.

Im not using DHCP as I have set the xp computers with their own ip's

thank you in advance.

Windows Server 2003 networking

In the Active Director - Users and Computers
Add 6 computers (Enter name of the client computers - (in XP my computer property - name of the computer)

In Active directory - users add 6 or as many users as you desire
By default use are members of Domain User Group

If want to assign different roles/powers - make the users memebrs of the different groups e.g. to give the administrator powers to abc right click on the entreprises admin and make abc member of this group.

I know this is an old post but for any future readers who may have a situation like this, Small Business Server 2003 is the answer.
