Cannot Rename Folder

i got the same problem as russlock posted 04-19-2005 i've read all his thread about his problem and cant find an answer. pls help me i also cannot rename my folder on drive c: but i can rename folder inside the folders in drive c: i can only rename them in safe mode i use windows2000 pls help me with this or if the instruction is long email me at oreyes888@yahoo.com thanks

If you can't rename the file ...that mean there is a process that stops you ........you could use a third party software called "unlocker"...this software is used for killing the process....hope this helps.

i tried that software but it can only rename my folder after rebooting so each time i have to rename a folder i have to reboot my pc.. anymore ideas why i cant rename my folder?? pls help its been 3 weeks now and i cant figure out which process is stopping me for renaming my folder..

i have the same proble tried the same thing with the same result.. dont believe to have virus or spyware running i have already ran avast at boot up mode and adaware both with new definition.... i have vista 32 bit i was able to rename a while ago i seem to have ownership but it just wont rename...

There may be some security setting preventing from renaming. Right click on C: drive in My computer and check the Security Tab where permissions are assigned.
