Question Problem with win 2000 installation!

i did a clean format of windows 2000 professional, but there is a problem with startup. I rebooted my computer when installation was done, and when it checked for ram, cpu and hardrives, after that, it showed a blue screen with white bold writing saying i have errors and cannot continue to my desktop! i have to go to bios and shut off checking for errors to go to my desktop when i restart. I have formatted 6 times and this only hapened once. what is the problem with the errors at startuo?and will these errors effect my computer in the long run?

This is for my freind!!! his computer is so screwed up that its too slow and always formating it! please help!

use a windows 98 boot disk and run the folling command off the d: drive

d:\winnt32\checkupgradeonly to ensure that his comp is compatible (many devices are not)

if the compatibility wizard workds try reinstalling make sure that no extraneous devices are attached that might cause this type of error: only leave in your ram, cpu, nic, vid card, sound card. no scanners, printers, etc.

hope this helps

In the BIOS there is a setting for "restart on error" Make sure this feature is DISABLED

No. The most common causes of that screen on boot are
1... Video card
2 Network card
3 Modem

Start with nothing but the video card and default driver. Boot up. Install the Voodoo/Nvidea whatever, video drivers and reboot. Go to the network card or modem one at a time.. Then printer.. then ??
Something is up with the hardware.

Maybe the Windows 2000 Installation disc is damaged, try getting hold of a new one
