Can't access the Internet on Windows 2003 Std.

Here's what I have:
Dual Xeon Dual-Core
Super Micro Mainboard
RAID 5
Windows 2003 Standard

I have just set this server up and I have not been able to gain access to the outside world. My network is NOT DHCP so I have configured my IP/Network Settings as appropriate.

I have assigned to the server, a role of File Server because it will be housing an Oracle database. I have disabled the Enhanced Securtiy for IE and reset my Internet Options to be "Medium Security" for the Internet Zone.

At this point, I can't get out to the Internet. I don't know what else to do. I just want to install Windows Updates.

The Router and Switch handles all of the Networking end of it. There is no DNS or DHCP server on the local network.

****Update: I found that I can't even ping or tracert to the DNS IP I have set up in my Network Adapter. I tried changing it to a free publicly available DNS, but no luck either way.
Also, I can't resolve any DNS names. For example, it can't get the IP associated with http://www.google.com

once again...sorry for late reply.

How does your other computers (if you have any) connecting to Internet...obviously they have IP address and DNS address, right ? you could take one of the system down and colon the IP address and DNS address on to your server and do your update.....that would be temporary solution but over all you need to have a IP route to outside world in order to receive updates.......so you got to find YOUR dns address and start from there.

Cheers
