Question Networking with Windows 2000

I'm not a techie so can anyone teach me how to network my 2 computers. My daughter & I interchange usage on these 2 computers and I want to be able to retrieve and access programs in both of them. I have a Dlink wireless router DI-624 and both computers are running on Windows 2000. Thank you.

Are both computers desktop or laptop, or at least one of the is laptop ??

Do you want a wireless connection between them ? how far apart are they from each other ? Would you be able to run wire betweeb them ? (Wired connection would be cheaper option)

Get back to us with the answers, that would narrow down the works you need to do to get them running.

Cheers

Hi, both computers are desktops but I may add a laptop to it later. One is on the second level and the other in the basement. The one in the basement is wired to the router while the second level computer is on wireless. Hope that helps. Thank you.
