remote desktop connection

Does anyone know how to have remote desktop use the session that is currently logged in on the computer. I was to connect to my windows 2000 server computer through the internet and be logged into the session that would be going on at the computer locally.

I am trying to log onto my home computer from work. I want to be able to see the exact desktop that a user would see if the were logged into the computer at home. I have done it before with two XP pro machines. The two XP machines were on the same network. When the client computer would connect to the server computer using remote desktop, the server computer would look as if it were logging off of the machine. The the client computer would come up and you would be able to log in and continue anything that was running on the server computer. I just tried to do this with terminal services and same thing. It will start another session.

Remote Administrator is a good solution. Install the server on your home PC and the client at work - Then if you have a static IP or use DUC then you can take over your home PC at the state it is in.

This really does work. Forget the MS built in remote desktop stuff - you will love this app!!!

Remote desktop

Juts wanted to add how great R-Admin is, I have a site license and I love it,, I can see every system in the building , but just keep in mind that Video hock for Remote Admin does not work very good under Windows XP and some video Cards,, you may get 100% CPU usage and occational lockup

cheers

If all your looking to do is remote into an active session you need to set the credentials on that first, Username and Password. Then when you rdp (mstsc from xp) into your box it will prompt you for the active credentials and you will then get access to the active desktop session.

Thats the free solution, of course r-admin or goverlan are good options for whole networks of servers when you are looking to manage farms.

hope that helps.
