sound skips in outlook express 6

Using Win2K, Outlook express 6, any audio file received in email has a skip in it. Replaced sound card, updated all drivers, etc. Have latest files for Win2K SP4, Windows media player 9.0.0.2980. No error shown in hardware devices. I assumed outlook express uses Win Media Player for playing sounds in emails. Can anyone help?

I would save the file on the disk and use different type of Media player to see if that makes a difference.

Yes, playing it or previewing it from within outlook is most likely the problem. Save it first before playing it.
