Windows Server 2000 has gone crazy!

I have a Windows 2000 server. Up until today, there has been nothing noticable "wrong" with it-it's been running fine and hosts websites. Today, after a restart, we noticed some error messages. Upon further investigation (after sites didn't come back up) we noticed TONS of errors in the event log. I'd love to look at them and figure them out, however when you try to open the property window of the events, nothing appears, although Windows thinks that it did (the error "close all property pages.." comes up when you try to close the event log). I jotted down a few error codes hoping that I would get a lead to a problem (no such luck, only tons more possibilites). I did notice in Device manager that I have an exclamation mark beside one of hte display adapters and one beside the "Unknown device-PCI Memory Controller".
What ever the problem is, there are a bunch of services that fail to start that are imparitive to my server functioning properly (removable storage service, DFS, Computer browser service, IIS-none will start) and IIS gets stuck "starting".

Any suggestions??? Customers are starting to complain!

I could be completely wrong, but the first place I would look:

Could that be a clue to a hardware problem?
Maybe failed memory. Even failed memory controller, in the Northbridge, on a PCI card.
SCSI controller cache memory?
Processor fault?
Power supply?

Have you completely removed mains power for a minute before trying again? Could be corruption due to a power glitch.

The memory is an option and one that I had thought about. I don't have any indicators that it would be any of the others.

At a minimum, try reinstalling the mainboard drivers.

Is a hardware device. It could be anything that is a memory controller. If it's not in a plug in card, then I expect it points to the Northbridge chip, which would include the memory controller IMO.

Well, I'm still not sure what the problem is/was, but I was givent he instructions to "restore the system state" and while the errors are still present in Device Manager and fewer in Event Log, it was enough to allow the property windows to be visible and the sites to be up and running again!
I'll continue to try to figure out the Device Manager errors tho!
Thanks!
