i am helping some friends business. He has a desktop acting as a server 2003 with 1gb of ram. It is fairly packed, currently it has sql server 2005 and sharepoint on it so its performance is at 1.33 gb.

there is not a lot of work on the sharepoint but the internet that is connecting 7 computers on a lan is crawling. The guys have satelite BB which is connected to the server and the server is connected to a router with all other computers connecting. i guess i need to know if this setup is ok.

Its most likely the satellite connection. Those are slow for one computer, the download speed can be impressive but the lag is probably coming from 7 computers try to send packets. Upload is so bad on satellite connections its hard to keep a messenger logged in at times.
