Unhappy Windows Server 2003 - Internet Access

Hello,

I am very new to the networking, I am having a problem with my Internet access on my server and the clients,

I have a windows server (Domain Controller) and few clients,
I have a router which gives a unique ip to each client,
now i want the internet to be routed for the clients through the domain controller...........i have configured the ADS(DNS too) and DHCP (but i really do not know what ips to be given for default gateway, prefered DNS, Subnet Mask...etc)

My question is, How do i get access to internet for my client pcs through my Domain controller ( even domain controller also should be able to access internet )

I would appreciate any help from anybody.

Thanks in advance.

Tell me the infrastructure of how these clients are connected up? Are they connected up to a router?

Are you able to join them to the domain? if yes then your problem is almost solved as this won't happen if an Internet connection was not present.

Are you using a proxy server?

Question

I can now see your problem by looking at your quote from your first thread:

"i have configured the ADS(DNS too) and DHCP (but i really do not know what ips to be given for default gateway, prefered DNS, Subnet Mask...etc)"

You need to find out the default gateway address otherwise Internet on the domain controller will not work. What IP address have you given to the domain controller?

(e.g. If your IP address of the domain controller is 192.168.2.13 then your default gateway is 192.168.2.1 . The default gateway always ends with .1)

Your default gateway is usually the IP address of the modem connected to the phone line.

Your subnet mask would be 255.255.255.0

Hi, follow what Dave is helping you with. Have a look at the link but not before your problem is solved as it may get too confusing. The link can be used for future reference http://www.visualwin.com/
