First before I explain the problem let me provide you with what I know about the computer.
IBM Thinkpad running Windows 2000
Appears to have pentium 3 ???
(probably showing how much I know about computers there)
Anyways. secondly let me tell you that I didn't run off and make an account to fix this problem right away. I have been working on this for nearly 4 days now, but to no avail. I have had so many computer problems in the past but fixed them with the help of guides online. This one has completely stumped me though.
The Problem:
Upon Startup a couple messages are presented to me:
yyhelp.exe - application error
The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000005). Click ok to terminate
Microsoft Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. (most annoying one, sometimes I can click don't send and it goes away but only to appear a minute later or when I click on IE. Sometimes it freezes with the hourglass and won't leave the middle of my screen at all)
RUNDLL
Error loading C:\WINNT\system32\mxcdcsrv16_080327.dll
&
RUNDLL
error loading C:\WINNT\system\zhqbdf080331.dll
Additional information:
The Microsoft update page will not load - Just a white screen.
What I have done:
Heres a quote from another post here
"I had several symptoms: blank page on windows update, couldn't start system restore, web pages weren't displaying properly (some were ok), many applications weren't working right - all after my McAfee Enterprise uninstall hung & I had to shut down. After the reboot, it appeared that the virus app was gone, but then nothing worked.
Turns out a bunch of stuff was unregistered. Here's what worked for me:
regsvr32 jscript
regsvr32 vbscript
regsvr32 /i mshtml"
unfortunately, this was not the fix for me. Also I read that Windows Script 5.6 would fix the problem but after going to microsoft downloads (which does work for me) I downloaded the validation tool and got an error message and to try again later.
My PC is running completely legit windows 2000.
ANY help is greatly appreciated!
