How to rename computer for network system.

I need help again.

A little background. I crashed my Win 2k computer again. The MS back up on the external hard drive did no good at all. By volume, it looked like the info was there, but after trying to restore my C drive, it failed to work. I got my background to show up, but nothing else...no desktop, no buttons to push, nothing. Not even a start button.

Even in safe mode, nothing. Next I booted off of the OS disk. Tried every option given to get it back up, but nothing worked. Finally I reformatted C, and tried to restore my back up. Still nothing, so I started over. I have gotten access to the internet again, and my sound is working, but I can't print on the system printer attached to my wife's Win XP Home computer. Can't find a network printer when I try to add a printer. Then something popped up on start up, saying something about a duplicate name for this computer on the network. I have seen the XP computer say the same thing one time. I guess I inadvertently named my computer the same thing that my wife renamed her's last summer. It's different than it was before.
So how do I rename my computer? And if this isn't the answer to my printing problems, how do I get that function back? Thanks! Jim.

As an update since I posted the above, I found how to rename my computer, and the network printer showed up in the printer window automatically, but it still won't print, even though I have switched the default from the fax to the printer, and loaded the HP disc (even though the XP machine shows to have the drivers for the 2k machine loaded there so there shouldn't be a problem). When I try to print something, it only gives me the fax as a possible to to send by. Both machines have the box checked to share printer in the networking set up.
So I still need help getting my computer to print, but it seems to know the printer now, even if it doesn't know where it is.
