Not sure if its a ICS or a Network Problem

O.k, I recently got asigned to re-install a network of 6 machines with Internet connection sharing via a Windows 2000 Professional server. I configured the server to automatically asign ips, (DHCP). but for some unkown reason its not assigning them. all other machines are configured to get an IP automatically. The other Pc's have a barrage of O.S.es (Win98SE,WinMe,Win2000,WnXp). None of them can see each other so far, wich is why i think its a network problem, but i'm not, maybe its because the 2000 server hasnt assigned IP addresses. If I try to ping the server from any machine i get a "Timed Out'. or Unreachable host. I dont know what to do? I tried assigning an IP to one of the PC's staticly, and tried to ping it, but that didn't work. I dont know if the Server is confused as to what Network connection it shoud be using for the LAN. Or what. The Internet connection is a DSL connected by ethernet to one of the Servers Network cards. I then installed the ISP configuration software, wich crerated a third connection. I've tried sharing the Internet Connection created by the ISP, but still nothing .

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanx

It seem to me that you know most of your stuff, so I would think that you have all 6 system set for DHCP, right ? (not assigned IP Address) question, howmany NIC is in your 2k server ? please remember that with Windows 2000 Server you would not need to activate ICS, you may want to install the DHCP service (ICS is for win2k pro)..... after enabling DHCP services, find out if your local NIC has an internal IP address before you work on other system. if they do then double check you hub or switch for connectivity.

cheers
