i have a usb Xterna HD, how do remove/unplug it from the computer when the computer is ON, i remember that there are icons in the systray for hot swap...that's wat i would like to do...please help.
Your drive should show up as Drive D E ... whatever, when you plug it in. The disconnect icon should be present in the taskbar when you plug in your external harddrive. What you need to worry about is disconnecting it. There should be an icon in the taskbar that you can expand showing your drive. Disconnect your drive via this icon or damage to your external hard drive could occur. Plugging in while your computer is on should not be a problem but disconnecting is.
that's is my exact problem, when i first connect the usb HD, i saw the icon (safely remove hardware icon)...once i installed the drivers for it, the icon disappears, can some one point me to where the icon disappear to?
