Slow Computer, Windows 2000
Using Windows 2000 Professional SP4. 2 weeks ago opening websites became very slow. Little blue line on lower left of screen on taskbar (sorry, name unknown to me) cn take 5 minutes to get to end.
Machine has no virus, malware, etc. It's been 'defraggled'. I use CCleaner daily. I think computer has 19GB of something. I only use around 25% of storage; put most of personal stuff on USB Flashies.
Learned how to check what's running. 30 items are running. Really don't understand ANY of the names in the list.
NOTE: Though I don't consider myself computer savvy, am familiar with Registry. Nothing seemed askew in it when I looked. (Please don't reprimand me for looking!) Have not downloaded anything new recently except Avast virus cleaner. I do NOT visit 'strange' websites.
Tried hard to figure out WHY it's become so terribly slow, to no avail. Any help would be appreciated.
