Cant find harddrives

I have a really weird problem. Neither Vista RC2 nor Mac OS X x86 can find any of my harddrives. I have a laptop with two 100 gb drives, theyre in no RAID, and both Ubuntu and XP finds them without the least trouble. One of the harddrives has one partition with NTFS, the other one has 10 gb ext3 partition and the rest NTFS. The harddrives are SATA btw, and made by Fujitsu.

Oh, and also, Vista has a prompt in the install to load drivers. Ive tried loading drivers from the driver disc that came with my laptop, and it does list a SATA driver but Vista says the driver is incompatible or theres some error with it or something like that. Cant remember exactly. Im sure tho, that it says something is wrong with the driver.

Also worth noting is that both Vista and osx86 work fine on my older desktop. It has an NTFS partition and an ext3.

This is not as common a problem as it used to be, but was the disk partitioned with any special disk partitioning software? It might have been originally set up using someone else's partition software that is no incompatible with Vista. Do you have any software that came with the disk? Can you do a "low level" format on the disk (the way you do this will vary from one disk manufacturer to another).

Another thing to check is see if you can wipe the disk and start over using the manufacturer's setup CD that came with the computer.
