No sound in Vista

Few days ago, I installed Windows Vista Ultimate x32 and everything seems to work fine except sound. I installed required sound driver which is Vista-compatible (I found it on the official motherboard's webpage http://www.asrock.com/mb/download.as...ALiveNF6G-DVI). Unfortunately, whenever I play an audio file, everything on computer screen seems ok, but there is no sound on speakers.

This is my configuration...
Vista Ultimate x32
CPU --> AMD Athlon64 X2 3600+ BOX,socket AM2, Winsdor, 2000MHz, 512kb c., HTT 1000Mhz
Motherboard --> ALiveNF6G-DVI (complete info can be found here).

When I go to Device Manager -> Sounds there is only Realtek High Definition Audio. When I click on speakers icon on system tray and then on Playback Devices there is only Realtek Digital Output on the list. Yesterday there was also speakers on that list, but even then the problem was the same.
Also, the same problem occurs even when I use headphones or speakers on monitor...
Anyone can help? I'm really becoming desperate...

There does not appear to be a chipset driver for the Vista OS at ASrock, and as the board lists more than one version of the chipset, then Everest will give the right one http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/...-Edition.shtml

you will find the chipset here at Nvidia http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp
it's the Platform/nForce driver you will need

Also there is a newer driver at Realtek http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/...&GetDown=false

download the (Executable file) save to desktop, double click to install.

SET A SYSTEM RESTORE POINT BEFORE INSTALLING JUST IN CASE

Also chek this out, it's for Win XP but also may apply to Vista

Start / Control Panel / Administrative Tools / Component Services / a separate window will open – in left pane click Services(Local) / Scroll down to Windows Audio service / if the service is Disabled or Manual right click > select Properties > under Startup Type change to Automatic > click Apply > click Start > Reboot.

Hope this helps

Thank you for your answer...
Unfortunately, when I click on option Chipset in Everest, the only thing I get on the right side of that window is blank table

had a look at the manual, it's the nForce 430, there are 2 drivers at nVidia for the 430, one with intergrated graphics and one without, I'm not too sure on this, can you go here, these guys are more techi informed than me, post the Everest report, it will help. I post there as well, want to get their input before I commit to anything http://72.29.80.128/Forum/

have you tried the Realtek Vista driver, I think the one at ASrock was a beta, get the (Executable file) save to desktop, double click to install.

hope this helps

do you have a Packard Bell comp, do you have the model, if not sure get Belarc, copy and paste the report but leave out the win update section and the Software Licence section it gives your Win Product code
http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html
