Lost touchpad icon once vista installed

1. Version of Vista = first
2. Hardware setup = Dell Inspiron E1505 lappy, core2 duo, 1.83gh, 1mg ram, 80g hd.
3. What exactly happened leading up to the problem = Installed Vista, lost touchpad icon to shut it off
4. Exact error messages = non
5. Any antivirus, firewall software you are running = mcafee, no firewall software installed.


I'm having a problem finding the touchpad icon to shut it off. It was on the task bar before installing vista, now its gone.

I ordered the vista upgrade from dell and installed per instructions.

I had the same problem. I just fixed it by downloading the drivers for the touch pad from the dell page. I still have the drivers and I can email them to you if your support contract with them is no longer valid.

If it is, you can enter your service tag on their site/go to drivers and downloads/Mouse and scroll to the bottom. You should see the drivers for the Touch Pad listed there.
