Sata Hard drive

Hello there, i have just brought a 750gig Western Digital Hard Drive.

im having trouble getting it to work. Vista knows the hard drive is there but its not showing up in my computer.

i have gone into Computer Management > Disk Management and have tried to initialize the drive but i get this error

i went into system event log to see what it say and i got this. (doesn't tell me much)


i have tried changing sata ports and nothing changed.

have u set it as a slave if you have.... try booting with a patrition manager and formatting it

I think if you follow tomo's tip that might be a good idea first of all.

Or go in to disk management, and create a new partition to make sure the computer recognises it as an active drive.

Does the drive show in DM or in the BIOS?

If not, then you might need to configure it as a slave (Unless it's the new master drive)
