Unhappy vista webroot bug rec disc full features lost...

I purchased GT5432 amd athlon 64x2 dual core proc 5000+ 894 MB RAM 2.60 GHz 32-bit op sys 5/2007 w/vista home prem; was told mcafee was not compatible & purch webroot spyware & trend micro virus; in june webroot sent out an update, but it had a "bug" and caused "some computers" probs--right--mine immediately started giving me errors on backups/recovery "0x81000005" "recovery (d) disc full (how can this be when I don't have anything on this thing yet?--) plus started running slow--I was advised to buy a registry cleaner--purchased Max Registry cleaner--no help--tried Advanced System Optimizer--no help--Webroot finally, after receiving at least 5 or 6 "bug reports" from me daily told me to completely uninstall all Webroot product--did so and now, not only do I have the probs listed above, I also have nothing showing when I try to turn windows features on/off! I have no sound! The sound can be seen going up and down as people speak on screen, etc., but nothing comes out of the speakers now! Audio cks out ok "Realtek High Def Audio" "Driver Date 11/8/6 Version 6.0.1.5322" & states "this device is working properly" etc.! I can find nothing to indicate anywhere in the entire system that the sound is not functioning as it shoud be--all is on and all is on high, etc. Webroot has sent me a "new" program to install! I haven't. . .where do I start? How can I clean out all of the whatever webroot caused, get back the features and sound and learn to "love" vista? thanks!

Presumably the sound is not muted? That may sound obvious, but have a good look. Sound can be muted fir individual inputs without blanket muting the system.
Your driver is out of date. latest is dated 2007/9/26:
http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/...3&DownTypeID=3

Try the driver first.

Registry cleaners? This one looks ok:
