Question Serial port and old software issues...

Getting to like Vista now. I jumped from '98 (skipped XP) so it was some jump. Trying to get an old, but very expensive and reliable WACOM graphics tablet going on the new machine with no luck. Fitted a serial card but software won't install - no drivers for Vista. Any Ideas?

Also, I have Corel draw 8 (old ver. again - get a new one I know, but I know 8 inside out) which crashes in Vista at every opportunity and won't 'Save' or Save as'.

Any thoughts much appreciated.

Regards,

The first question I think you are out of luck.
Try to run Corel 8 in compatibility mode right click>properties>compatibility.

If you must run Vista....
Best bet is to run 98 or XP in virtual mode. Microsoft's own virtual PC runs 98 like a charm. I think it's free now.

Thanks guys. I tried compatibility mode in 95, 98, XP, to run Corel 8, but vista was having none of it, gumming up every move. It ran best (though still crashing etc.,) with no compatibility setting. Guess it's a new Corel then.

Will look at the Virtual 98 thing. Thanks again.

The '98 virtual setup programme tells me that my version of Vista is incompatible. £130 to upgrade to Vista Ultimate - bummer. My version is:

Windows Vist Home Premium

My setup is:

Machine: Packard Bell
Processor: AMD Athlon 64 processor 3800+ 2,4 GHz
Ram: 766 MB
Operating System: 32-bit

Any ideas?
