Unhappy help my toolbar and start menu have gone!!

hi i installed a new spyware yesterday then unistalled it and when my laptop resarted mt toolbar and startmenu were gone only my documents folder came up? the only way i could get bk was to run command then type explorer.exe which brought it back but i have a red x on my sound control but i do have sound??? plus when i reboot it goes bk to blank again pls can anyone help me i really dont no wot to do thanks.

Hi Lisa, have you tried a system restore point? What was the spyware program you installed?

hi monty,it was called spyware docter my sister sent me the link she said she downloaded it from a bittorrent site. please can u help thanks, i tryed system restore twice but it still comes up the same

Try this right click on the tasbar and select properties>start menu>classic start menu>apply>ok.
Can you see it now? If so go back, follow the above procedures and instaed of classic click start menu, apply ok.
What version of Vista do you have?

no that didnt work as soon as i rebooted it came up exactly the same again? i have vista ultimate!! thanks for your help so far

Wow Lisa this is starting to get desperate. I would like you to run a full anti-virus sacn and download super anti-spyware http://www.superantispyware.com/ run a full scan with this as well.
The only thing I can come up with now that the torrent had a infection (be carefull what you download from torrent sites.)

hi monty i done both scans and the only thing they found were tracking cookies? which have been deleted and its still the same im really about it now i really dont no wot it could be?

Ok lets go back a step, right click on the taskbar>properties>start menu>customize>click on use default settings.

ok well i can always c the toolbar and start menu but only after i go into command and run explorer.exe? i have to do this everytime i turn on my laptop! which is doing my head in now i really cant c wots up with it? it says i have no audio device but i have sound? and also it wont let me look in certain files it says error?

hi monty well i done this and it said it dectected problem with startup so i clicked repair and restart but it still come up the same? i think the best bet would be to reinenstal vista again? wot do u think?? thank u so much for all your help so far
