Windows cannot find 'C:\Users. . . \documents\. . . . .docx'

Hi everyone,
I am having a nightmare with the documents on my computer, I can't get any of them to open, when I double click to open I get this message. . .
Windows cannot find 'C:\Users. . . \documents\. . . . .docx'. Make sure you have typed the name correctly and try again.

I can't have typed it incorrectly cos I didn't type it! I have some very important things stored as documents and now I can't access any of them.
Does anyone know what the problem might be? I have Vista Home Basic.

Hi docx files are office 2007 files are you trying to open these files in office 2003? If so you will need to download a 2007 office reader.

I have not got a clue what I'm trying to do here, Monty. It did open ok to begin with though. The only office reader I can find online is 2003. Can anyone tell me where to find the 2007 one? I'm kinda clueless here.

Mentioned it to my brother and the default setting for opening the documents had been changed somehow. It's all sorted now. Thanks for you help, Monty
