Unhappy Help! My Sony Vaio Is Being Funky!

My Sony Vaio Laptop w/ Vista (Only a year old) isn't working!!
When I turn it on, it goes through all of the startup stuff and when it SHOULD go to the desktop the screen goes black and all you can see is the cursor!! I tried running it through safe mode but it does the same thing! HELP! How do I FIX this??

PS.
I don't have any software for this laptop.

You might have software on the harddisk...
Laptops usually have a hidden area of the disk that has the Vista "install disk" on it. Usually a combination keypress will boot that disk and then you can run the repair option.

Check the sony manuals/website for info on your laptop and if it can do this. Most laptops use this method to keep the Vista media with the user.
