First tab won't close after installing WIFI printer

I installed a HP C7280 wifi printer yesterday.
I installed the printer and connected it by cable to my pc and that works ok.
I then installed the software on a laptop using the wireless option. The laptop is connected to the internet via a wireless router.
Since the installation I can open the internet with ie7 and can open further tabs on that connection. I can close all of the tabs but the first tab will not fully close. That tab partially closes and then just hangs. It will allow no further operation and can only be closed using Ctrl-Alt-Del.
I can however re-establish an internet connection as nornal even whilst the first tab hangs.
That new internet connection works normally and all of the tab on that connection will close.
The wireless connection to the printer works ok.

Any thought please?

You cannot close every tab in IE7. At least one tab must always remain open. Only way to shut that one is to exit IE7.
