Help!!!! Vista Lag

Hello i have been everywhere on other forums and yahoo answers and no one seems to answer lol. but recently my 1 month old computer has been giving me a lag after about 5 hours of being on. Here are my computer specs.

----------Gateway lx 6810-01-----------
Windows Vista Home Premium Sp2 (64 bit)
Intel core 2 Quad Q8200
8Gbs of DDR2 Ram
Nvidia Geforce GT120 With 1gb Vram

Im not a big fan of gateway but i love gaming and his computer is compatible with every game i have come across. Ohh and if it means anything my computer is hooked up through hdmi to my 32" sylvania lcd hdtv.

ohhh and another detail: rebooting the computer does help but after another 5 hours i get the lag.

Hi, the only thing that you can do is to when this issue ocuurs go to task manager>right click on the task bar and select task manager>process> and sort by CPU. Then right down the processes that are causing high cpu except System idle Process as this is normal.
While you get the lag you can also look at Performance and select resourse monitor as this will give you more details.

thanks

thanks you are the only one to reply lol but that does not solve the problem i have 4 cpus 2.34 ghz each so it cant possibly be the problem cpu never exceeds 15% and only some processes beside "idle process" flash 1's and 2's
i know common steps for lags but this one is strange. at first i thought it was a virus , so i did every scan possible for malaware , adware , spyware and all that nasty crap , but came up with nothing. Do any of you out there think it could be the power supply??? I recently found out it only 400 watts...... please help...........

Question

Vista is a pile of poo anyway.

Worth installing Windows 7 RC and get the final version when it is released on October 22nd.

Did the company/shop you got the computer from not mention that your Vista licence could be used for upgrading to Windows 7? Ive heard that any PCs bought recently with Vista get this option.

I'd install Windows 7 RC and wait for the final version to be released in October. You have until the end of August to download Windows 7 RC from the Microsoft website before it becomes unavailable.
