Black Screen After Logging In On Vista

Hi everyone here is my problem i have picked up over the past months when i come to start up my computer i get to the log in screen type my password then hit enter after that it takes me to a black screen where it makes me hang for about 20-30 secs i have bin on google and other forums and also on youtube to try help this but none have worked for me if anyone knows of this error please help.

p.s i have tryed last good config, ctrl alt del , changing the value to explorer.exe and still no help

Hi, can you log on in safe mode? Press f8 at startup.

Yes but still get the same thing i have tryed everything chaning the value to explorer.exe and also other methods but i can not get rid of this black screen after log in i have also tried last good config but nothing helped there

Just so Im straight with this, you logon, wait 20-30 seconds with a black screen then you login and see the desktop....correct?

Yea thats right i get to the log in screen put my password in hit enter get faced with black screen wait for about 20-30 seconds then the desktop appears as normal

just check your registry entry
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

look for key shell it should have value "explorer.exe" (without quotes)
delete any thing else messed up in that perticular key

manier times i ve seen if progs don't get installed/uninstalled properly this key has value " explorer.exe regsvr32" particularly with nero.

hi, the back screen is windows bypassing a problem. try to run check disk after system comes up. Look at thread above"os-windows vista64 bit" Good Luck Qfisheye
