Hi.
Thanks for responding. It's been really annoying to have this problem, but not find anyone willing to help.
I didn't want to uninstall the driver, so I went to the Device Manager and disabled my graphics card:
The screen switched to 800x600 resolution, and I restarted my computer. Unexpectedly (for me at least), when it finished booting it started at the correct brightness setting, and never changed back. I Enabled the driver and restarted again, and as usual, the computer booted up, looked fine for a few seconds, then suddenly went dark, and I had to go into the NVIDIA control pannel to switch it back.
So, at least I know it's an annoyance with the graphics driver, but it's still automatically switching to the too-dark setting when the computer loads.
Also, I updated the driver from 7.15 to 8.16, so here's my updated DxDiag file:

My laptop is an IBuyPower CZ-9 Ultra-3 Mark II.
