adc2009... That sounds scary!
Assuming you're out of warranty from no mention of contacting Sony support? I haven't experienced the particular problem you're facing (or maybe by today you've found a remedy, hopefully) - but I have found a great deal of help at NotebookReview.com, look for mfgr 1st, then your model should have its own forum (mine does but I often read/post to other threads as applicable).
Assuming also that you've already tried your recovery discs plus you've already tried the hardware diagnostics---&, of course the usual System Restore, & no response? Not knowing what you last installed or changed, or other symptoms (like overheating, etc), makes it all the more challenging to try to suggest anything. Also I think there's something(s) I'm overlooking---especially given the very late hour here & how sleepy I am now!
Sure wish I could offer something much more specific to your situation but, honestly, I can't. When I read your post, I just felt so much that I wanted to help in some way. I'm brand new to this site myself, just signed up today so I haven't had the chance to take a good look around yet. Please, if or rather WHEN you do find a fix, would you kindly post the details here? Surely there must be others who have experienced the same unusual no-login screen & no response as you (or if they haven't, they will---could be me, too;-) You never know! Best of luck to you.
