0x0055 MPEG-1 Layer 3 will only play on one speaker

I've been having a problem lately, where in some videos, the audio will only play on one speaker, usually my right one, though sometimes the left one. I examined them with GSpot v2.70, and found that all of the ones with this problem use the 0x0055 MPEG-1 Layer 3, while ones using other codecs like MPEG-2 or Dolby AC3 are unaffected. Strangely, it also seems that some 0x0055 MPEG-1 Layer 3 will work, those using 48000Hz, while those using 44100Hz will only play on one speaker.

So, what can I do so all my videos will play using both speakers?
