no sound through headphone socket

Hi, I have recently reinstalled windows vista and have come across a problem.
when I plug in my headphones no sound comes through them and still goes through normal speakers whilst headphones are plugged in.

I have gone into device manager and noticed under 'other devices' it says 'multimedia audio controller' and has a yellow exclamation mark on it. When i right click and click properties it shows 'the device for this driver is not installed code 28', it also shows 'manufacturer unknown'.

Before i reinstalled vista i used to have realtek high definition audio which was used for my sound though I am pretty sure this was shown under the tab 'sound, video and game controllers'.

When click update this driver software and search online it comes up can not find driver software.

I am very very confuzzled and would love it if someone could help me fix this problem.

I have used belarc advisor to find my pc specs so if there is any spec you need in order to help you help me fix this problem I can provide it.

Thank you for reading.
