Does anyone know how to fix this? I didn't think it mattered, but I have a P4 2.8Ghz, 512MB Ram, 30G HD. I have installed Plug And Play, it just doesn't work like i would like it to. I don't want to restart every time. Help please!

Start > Help and Support > Search .

Just typed > plug into Search & got 30 answers .

Here is one of them .

To install Universal Plug and Play
Open Add or Remove Programs in Control Panel.
Click Add/Remove Windows Components.
In the Components list, select the Networking Services check box, and then click Details.
Make sure the Universal Plug and Play check box is selected.
Notes

To open Add or Remove Programs, click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click Add or Remove Programs.
If you used a CD to set up Windows, you will be prompted to insert it into your computer.

I have already done that already and i have tried looking in windows help. I have Pnp installed already, i just want to know why the device plugged in only works after i restart, it doesn't work like the pc's at my school lab, where i can simply plug the device in and it is automatically recognized by pc, and i can use it without restarting the computer. When i plug a device into my laptop, it doesnt do anything. If i restart, then the device is found and it works.

Look in the BIOS and see if Plug & Play is enabled.

That may help

You need to reboot your computer and as it is booting up hit the F8 key a few times this will take you into your Bios. Some mobos you have to hit the escape button. so try F8 first.
