Question one way Windows Messenger

Voice and Video in my Windows Messenger works one way only - I can see and hear, yet I am neither seen nor heard. Made all the updates, removed the firewall in my Win XP, checked networking with the Task Manager - while communicating with the mike and webcam on (checked them too) - bytes sent are are almost equal with the bytes received (+/- 10% to 30%), the people at the Help Desk of my provider sweared that there is no NAT (because I am connected thru cable modem - wonder if it is true) and all ports are open. The files (MP3&pictures)I send go through without a hitch.
Wonder also if the problem has anything to do with permissions and administrative priveleges? In the beginnig I had activated the Windows Messenger as a user and not as administrator. As a last resource has given the user all the priveleges possible (Full Control) but it doesn't work. It also doesn't work when I log in as Administrator - Windows Messenger in this profile is just dead, cannot get it into the notificatio area of the taskbar. Should I reinstall Windows Messenger and how? Does anybody know, how to get out of this mess?

I am having the same issue. My brother and I communicate via Windows Messenger, but have never gotten the voice piece to work. I can hear him fine & on my side the voice appears to be working (I can see the light bar go up & down when I speak). I validated that the Windows XP Firwall is off, but have not gotten any further than that. We can send files back & forth & the IM piece works fine, it's the voice/video piece that I haven't got to work.

Please help....Thanks.

A alternative would be to change to MSN Messenger 6.1 at http://messenger.msn.com

Messenger Voice will not work

Hi - I am having the same problem with my Windows XP - I have downloaded Messenger 6.1 - and I can hear and see my contacts, but they can only see me and not hear me.
My voice works on Yahoo - but is harder to use then Messenger so would really like to get this working.

If anyone has any ideas - I would be very grateful. Thank you.

Anyone find a solution to this problem? I also am having the same problem with XP and Messenger. I can see and hear my contact just fine, but he cannot see or hear me? I have disabled the XP firewall and all my personal firewalls. No luck.
