"Cannot find server or DNS Error"

For nearly a month, I have been unable to visit two sites: http://www.hockeysfuture.com/ [216.17.96.42] and its accompanying forum, http://www.hfboards.com/ [216.17.96.53].

I get the following error:
"The page cannot be displayed
The page you are looking for is currently unavailable. The Web site might be experiencing technical difficulties, or you may need to adjust your browser settings."

Then the usual "please try the following," of which none help.

Then, at the bottom:
"Cannot find server or DNS Error
Internet Explorer"

-----
These are the only two sites in the last month that have not worked for me, and I did not install/un-installed anything between the time I could access the site and when I couldn't. I have visited many support websites over the past few weeks, and have tried many different things and many settings, of which none have worked. I have changed the security settings back and forth and I've changed all the Internet Options around, but that didn't work. I changed all the settings back to the defaults, but that didn't work, either. I've also tried multiple browsers, but again, that didn't work. Tried switching off the firewall, didn't work.

I have e-mailed by ISP (Comcast) a couple times, but they have not solved my problem. They told me to ping and tracert the sites, and then send them the results -- which I did --, but they never responded. I then e-mailed them again after a week, they apologized, but still didn't answer my problem. Calling them in the past has been even less helpful.

If it helps ...
Operating System: Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition (Build 2600)
Processor: Intel Pentium 4 CPU 1.80GHz

Is that your home computer ?
Could be that someone is messing around with you LMHOSTS file ???
go to C:\Windows\system32\drivers\etc directory and open the HOSTS file with note pad,,all you have to see is this:

# Copyright (c) 1994 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows 98
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the computer name denoted by a '#' symbol.
#
# For example:
#
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host
127.0.0.1 localhost

if there is any else is there, remove it .. Also, are you running any kind of porxy software ? how about, router ?

cheers

Yes, it is my home computer.

Inside my hosts file, it looks almost exactly look yours; it doesn't have the copyright or "This is a sample .." lines.

There is a Broadband router going to a laptop (which also cannot get to those two sites, and those two sites alone). I'm not using a proxy.

Okay, I solved my problem.

For anyone else who may have the same problem:

----- Go to Start/Run
- first type "cmd" to open up command prompt
- then type "ipconfig/release" .. a few lines will appear.
- then type "ipconfig/renew" ... again, a few lines will appear.
- then type "exit"
- the site should work again correctly.
