System Recovery

Does anyone know if doing too many system recoveries harms/screws up the computer system? I've wanted to do another one ever since I did the last one because of some annoyances on my system and wonder if those annoyances are the result of two recoveries done on this system.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

System restore doesn't seem to solve the problem.
The latest seems to be that some of my email gets sent to the junk file in yahoo. I wonder if I have some kind of spy stuff on my system. Do you know of any safe method of checking/getting rid of spyware that won't slow my system. I know I don't have a virus.

i use adware 6.0 to look for cookies and stuff ,and its free.

how do you know you dont have a virus, that is a strong statement. i scan with several different scanners, stand alone, on-board, and on-line and still never rule out the possibility. just because you have the latest virus scanner, and all the updates does not mean it is fool proof.
