XP and new motherboard

I plan to replace my existing board to accomodate a better CPU and have more PCI slots and USB 2.0 ports. I'm not sure whether this would require a total reinstallation of XP or repair installation will do. ideally, everything will be automatically detected and XP installing the drivers e.g. P & P.

You will most certainly need to do a repair install at the least to associate Xp with the new hardware.

look at these two link,, it will give you an idea about what you will be faceing when and if you change a mobo in Windows XP OS:

http://www.windowsreinstall.com/inst...oard/winxp.htm

http://support.microsoft.com/default...;en-us;q302577

unless you want to run SYSPREP beforeinstalling you new mobo,, which I don't think you would want.

cheers
